National Poetry Month - A Poem A Day

Yikes! What have I gotten myself into?? The lovely, and talented Shanna Germain has put the call out. The challenge? A poem a day for the month of April. Over at Not Without Poetry are posted prompts for those who are without inspiration. Of course, there is no need to stick to those - they're just a guideline.

I figured I needed a bit of a challenge. Like my life isn't complicated enough right? *chuckle*

So here is today's offering.

Destroyed

for months I dreamed

the taste of freedom on my lips

the song of the unshackled in my soul

the anticipation of you in my heart

today it lies here

shattered, tattered, torn

the victim of wanton destruction

the dream is gone

reality has set in

farewell to the other side

life is this
