We have winners!

With the way this blog has been going lately, I'm going to say that having four people comment is definitely a win!

Thank you to all who visited during this time. I'm sure there was more than one newbie and I hope that I can keep up posting so you'll have something semi-interesting to read from me.

In case you're late to the party, I hosted a writing prompt challenge. The prize? An e-book copy of Alison Tyler's Alison After Dark.

Yep. That's the one.

I wanted to help the lady out with five copies, but we only had four commenters. But that's cool. All the lovely people have my undying gratitude.

SO, if Cammies on the floor, Angel, David and Trix could all send their e-mail addresses to angell(dot)brooks(at)hotmail(dot)com , I shall get your prizes to you forthwith!

(On a side note, does anyone have any idea why we post email addy's like that in blogs? I just saw others doing it and figured that's the way it's done *shrug*)

In the meantime, if you didn't participate in the contest, but would still like a copy of your own, head over to Amazon and hit the buy button! A small price to pay for some seriously hot reading. How can you go wrong?!

You simply can't.

SShhhh - it's a secret... (DSL Blog Tour stop)

Ok, not really. And I'm not so good at keeping secrets anyway.

As I sit here, attempting to figure out how to introduce this, I'm brought back to 2007 - and the first time I saw Alison Tyler's blog. She was - confessing is the closest word I can think of - and keeping her readers on the edge of our seats. It was a tale of shame, of discovery, of release. It was a tale of newly discovered pride.

Even after she stopped telling, it stuck with me for awhile. And I stuck around to see if she'd finish it.

Six years later, she's started it all over again. But this time in book form.

The first installment of this tale is titled Dark Secret Love. And like Alison herself, is unique and incredible. You'll have to attach yourself to something steady, because it's easy to fall into her world.

Today, our lovely Trollop answers a few questions, and poses a challenge for readers in the last one.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

You’ve said that whatever you write always contains a sliver of yourself. With DSL, it’s more than a sliver. Did you discover anything new about yourself this time around that you didn’t back in 2006 when you first began telling your tale on your blog?

Here’s a tequila-induced confession. I was fucking terrified to revisit the story. I wrote this entirely organically, if that makes sense. Every day, I committed to about a thousand words. I let music inspire me as far as the tone. So if I heard a Pink Floyd song one day, I might write with that atmosphere in my mind the next. I had no real grasp of whether the piece would hold together in book form. What did I discover? That petrifying fear, which gradually let me loose the longer I worked on the project.
See, the thing is, there are 500,000 words to the tale. I’m at book eight of compiling, and it’s not finished.

Where’s the craziest place you’ve found inspiration for one of your stories?

I entertain myself by constantly writing stories in my head. Any place where you’re stuck for more than a few minutes, that’s when my over-active brain takes over. I’ve written stories set in the DMV. While waiting for a Tow Truck. While stuck in traffic. I like to say that I see sex wherever I go. It’s the truth. Give me a few people, an odd location, and ten minutes—and I’ll write you a story.

How hard was it to come to terms with your sexual “appetites” in a society that insisted they remain hidden? Do you feel it would be easier if you had to do it in today’s world?

There are so many more resources available for kinky people now. At least, resources you can easily put your hands on. The internet is a wealth of knowledge for fetishists and kinksters. In my formative years, as they say, I was pretty much alone. And lonely. That is, until I met Brock:

And it wasn't long before I realized that high school life and my world with Brock were parallel universes that didn't have anything else in common—running side by side on twin tracks. I felt as if I were in a dream as I walked through the Quad, watching the popular kids up on the wall, the jocks out by the basketball court, the stoners behind the gym. I faked everything from 8 - 3, not coming alive again until Brock picked me up on his Harley. Somehow, I was smart enough to do well in class simply by going through the motions. But I no longer had a desire to fit in.
I think we are all hardwired for what we crave. When I’d gone on the few miserable dates with guys my age, I would invariably offer my wrists to them. To hold. To kiss. I didn’t even know why I was doing this. And the guys never figured out what I wanted. I can imagine their confusion now. What’s with this chick? But Brock did. He rarely held my hand. He gripped my wrist instead, letting me know what it would feel like to be bound to his bed, to be in his power. Letting me know ahead of time, before he made that fantasy come true.

DSL is a huge hit – and Hollywood comes knocking. Who do you see playing the parts?

Ha. I love you. I wish I could close my eyes and see the cast all lined up neatly. But I can't wrap my head around the casting! I want to say, an eloquent Tom Sizemore. Or Michael Madsen in this one scene of this one movie. Or David Straithairn circa L.A. Confidential. Or John Doe in Slam Dance. Even if his coloring is wrong, there's something so brutal and sexy about him. Especially, in that three-piece suit.

But you know what? I want to flip the question and ask readers instead. Who would you cast for the roles?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I think she really wants to know guys. So answer in the comments, and at the end of the blog tour, Alison will choose her favourite answer and that lovely reader will receive a fun prize. Not sure what yet, but you can bet it'll be cool. (Also, if you check out that entry, you can enter to win a prize pack from Alison herself).

If you don't have your copy yet, check out Dark Secret Love at Amazon UK, Amazon US or at your local book store.

Called a “Trollop with a Laptop” by East Bay Express and “a hell of a writer” by Violet Blue, Alison Tyler is naughty and she knows it. Counting down

Four and  a half hours left until midnight. Until the deadline for my first contest arrives.

And I've gotta tell you friends, I'm feeling mighty discouraged.

One entry. That's all I've got.

I'm not mentioning the wonderful author/authoress who submitted, because the poll will be anon if I get enough entries. But I'd like to thank her from the bottom of my heart.

I've reminded. I've joked.

I've begged.

You see, I'm never sure if I have readers or not. Hell, I'm not even sure if my IRL friends make it here or not.

But I've had a lot of support as far as advertising the contest, from May Deva, Sommer Marsden, Alison Tyler, and Aisling Weaver to name a few.

But alas, I know my fave scribes are all very busy - Sommer is editing and writing her (getting progressively smaller) ass off, Alison's To-Do list is NEVER done, and Aisling just completed a cross country move. And I can't forget my wonderful Dayle, who's husband was in a bike accident and has been keeping us posted via iPhone from his bedside. (NOTE: I'm happy to say that he's at home now recovering nicely. WTG Ken!)

So that leaves the little known writers, whom I've wanted to get to know through this contest.

But no one is reading. Or at least no one is writing.

SO, I'm hoping that this last post before the clock strikes twelve will inspire some of you to sit down and type out five-hundred little tiny words that would mean so much to me.

I thank you for reading - and hopefully for writing.

Is there no love?

(Psst - permission to repost, pimp out, and blab to your friends - GRANTED!!!)

I. Am. Heartbroken.

Well, not really...well, yeah I am.

Maybe I don't know enough about publicity, maybe I don't know how to market myself.

Maybe I should have put up what the prize is?

But when I check my inbox, it's empty. Not a word. Not a story. Nothing.

I have no entries for my first ever contest. *sniff sniff*

Now, I KNOW there are some great writers out there. I've participated with them in Alison Tyler's contests.

But what am I doing wrong?

So, here we go. Today was SUPPOSED to be the deadline. But since I can't have a contest without entries, I'm extending it. For the weekend.

Yeah, I realize that it's a long weekend, and no one really wants to be writing when they can be outside enjoying the lovely weather.

But it's only 500 words. And I know that most of you can pound those out in your sleep.

So, once again - here are the details (and they're copied straight from the post so I can't sue myself for copyright infringement. LOL)

Inspired by my iPod, which has been known to have a sick sense of humor sometimes, here's your assignment, should you choose to accept it.

It's summer time. Sunshine, beaches, water, patios, cottages, drinks with little umbrellas - and lots and lots of wonderfully dark, romantic, sultry and sweaty places to have sex. Oh, and music. Cool music. Loud music. Bopping music that seems out of place in the dreary, cold grip of winter.

So, pick your favourite summer song. Use it as the title. Give me no more than 500 words. Make us moan, make us sweat, make us sing.

Anyone can enter. If you've sold 10,000 stories, or are just entering the world of erotica, I'm taking all entrants. No discrimination here.

EXCEPT...

... the usual
"NSW" rules apply. You know, no sex with - anyone under 18, animals (as per usual, shifters don't count), things or people that are dead (supernatural beings are ok though, as long as they're over 18). No snuff. No scat. Anything that is sent in those categories is automatically deleted, no matter how good you may think it is.

The prize? I'm not quite sure yet. But rest assured, as a frequent participant in these contests, I know the value of working for something worthwhile. So I shall, indeed, make it worth your while.

What am I forgetting? Oh right! Deadline and where to send it. D'OH.

Have it in by midnight (EST if you please) on July 11
to angell dot brooks at hotmail dot com.

And I know it's completely uncouth to beg (but I've never claimed to be couth hehe), but please, please, PLEASE - help a girl out.

Let's celebrate summer and shiny, sweaty bodies together.

CHEERS!

I CANNOT call myself a smut writer...

if the sight of these two men, on stage, TOGETHER, doesn't inspire me.

Fortunately it does. He he he.

Ladies, Tim McGraw & Luke Bryan. How seriously nom nom nom are these two?

Saw their tour last night. And, not only were they TOTALLY inspirational (Luke looks so good in jeans it should be illegal and I had a great view from behind all night. I could wax poetic for DAYS on his thighs alone...), but the music wasn't half bad either. And there was this one absolutely ADORABLE roadie...all in all it was an inspirational night.

LOL. I'm horrible.

But seriously. It reminded me that country music is a summer staple around my house, and that reminded me that there are only TWO MORE DAYS until my Hot Fun In the Summertime contest comes to a close.

So please...I'm hoping for this to be a serious success. If you haven't thought about entering already, why not? Five hundred teeny, tiny words that make us all hot, bothered, and looking for a cold shower.

It's not that *ahem* hard....

And for further inspiration - check out the boys performing together on their current tour.

TWO DAYS PEEPS. Get cracking!

Monday, June 20, 2011

Ummm...help?

I did it. I finally did it.

But CAN I do it?

I registered my website. I'm so happy with myself for finally taking the initiative to get it done. It's the first step to starting my career.

But I don't know how to design a website!!!! GLEEP.

So now I'm panicking. What was I thinking? Why did I think I could do this? There's no way...

I mean, I have SOME idea on how to do it. Back in the day (oh...about nine years ago) two friends and I had our own website, and we designed it all. Learned how to do html and everything and damn were we proud of ourselves.

But things have changed since then. Now there's flash, and macro, and ... see? I'm not even sure of all the terms! I'm. So. Screwed.

I look at my domain, I know what I want to do...and yet I find myself reaching for a paper bag to breathe into when I think about where to begin.

So, I'm putting the call out to any and all smut-writers/geeks/nice philanthropic peeps who have a clue about all this who wouldn't mind donating time/advice.

And in the mean time, PLEASE don't forget, I'm hosting my first ever contest and am hoping that my fave scribes are taking ten minutes to scribble something together to enter.

I thank you, my nerves thank you, and my overworked nervous system especially thanks you.

Hot Fun in the Summertime CONTEST

I'm stealing the torch. Ok not so much stealing, as borrowing. I figure, Alison Tyler isn't using it right now....

See, our lovely Trollop is a busy beaver these days (giggle - yes I said that on purpose). And I know that there are writers out there who are just itching for another contest. So, I figured I'd do one myself.

Inspired by my iPod, which has been known to have a sick sense of humor sometimes, here's your assignment, should you choose to accept it.

Walk Away (Kiss challenge - 250 words)

I entered this over at Trollop with A Laptop for her Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me challenge, and thanks to the wonderful voters (some of whom were my very good friends), I WON. Even if I hadn't - I think it's a unique twist at the end.

What do you guys think?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

“Not yet.” He grabbed her as she stalked past, pulling her roughly into his bare chest. “You don’t just get to walk away.”

His hand came up to softly carress her cheek, his eyes burning a hole through her, weakening her resolve.

“Josh…” His name was a whisper on her lips, and she struggled briefly, but without real effort, to remove herself from his arms. His thumb moved across her lips, barely touching them before he angled his head, claiming her mouth ravenously.

Her nails dug into his pecs as she leaned into him, thrusting her tongue against his in the familiar dance. His teeth nipped at her bottom lip, demanding total surrender, and against her better judgement, she waved the white flag, thrusting her aching groin into his hard on beneath the towel he had slung around his hips.

He took a fistful of her hair and yanked to the side, exposing her jugular and wasting no time, sunk his teeth in, biting in his practiced way so as to not leave a mark. But he did leave an internal bruise that she would feel for months at a time; the haunting, orgasmic sensation of his claim.

His tongue left a moist trail from her collarbone to her earlobe. “Come on babe. Don’t go.” Her resolve weakened, and for that one moment, she couldn’t remember why she was leaving.

“Hey Josh. Where do you keep the shampoo?” A woman’s voice called from the bathroom.

Oh yeah. THAT was why.
