Wait my dear,
before you turn on
The television and get lost
In the mindless wonder,
Let me tell you something.
Remember this before you get older
There won’t always be time
To play in the rain
Have pillow fights with friends
Blow bubbles in your chocolate milk.
There won’t always be time
To play dress up in mom’s clothing
to have tea parties with your dolls,
or to nap with your favourite bear.
When you get older
You forget about saving the universe
You never get to be a cowboy,
And the only way you ever
Slay a dragon
Is when you make fun of your boss.
Remember this before you get older
The tv will always be there.
Right now,
at this moment,
there’s always time to play.
at this moment,
there’s always time to play.
